Why Bangladesh Cricketers is not playing in IPL.

Bangladesh Cricketers are not playing in IPL or being ignored is the matter of discussion. Today we will discuss some known and valid reasons behind this dilemma. Stick until the end of this article to understand the whole plot behind it.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) really a big event in cricketing world, since it is started in 2008. Bangladeshi cricketers have been overlooked always. In the IPL’s 14-year history, only six players have been selected in IPL teams. This has led to questions about why Bangladeshi players are not a top priority pick for any team owners in IPL.

Performance of Bangladeshi Players

IPL is a Twenty20 game which requires all-rounders and Big Hitters. Bangladesh has not produced any top-notch all-rounders, who are consistent performers and can prove to be a perfect fit for IPL teams. The lack of big-hitting prowess from Bangladeshi batters has been a main reason of not being selected in this format.

West Indian cricketers who are masters of this art often go for large sums of money at the auction. The quality of Indian cricketers has improved significantly, allowing franchise owners to look at different local talents to be fitted on their sides. Franchise managements can then look at international cricketers to fill in the remaining voids in their teams. For Bangladeshi cricketers to feature constantly in the IPL, a revamp in planning for Bangladesh’s T20 cricket plan, grooming local talents, and notable performances on the world stages is required.

Politics between National Cricket Board

A major update came this year ahead of the sixteenth season of the IPL. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was reportedly unhappy with Sri Lanka Cricket Board and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). BCCI had the problem with these two boards because they scheduled their international series during the IPL and the delay in providing No Objection Certificates (NOC) for their IPL-bound players. Only three Bangladesh players were the part of the last IPL season, Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, and Litton Das.

The BCCI and franchises will be sceptical about picking players from certain countries, but the perception about Bangladeshi players will change in the future. After the BPL in Bangladesh, Bangladesh is also producing good talents. Future of Bangladesh seems good.
