Domestic Career

Mahedi’s journey in the world of cricket began with a bang when he made his Twenty20 (T20) debut on 8 November 2016, representing Barisal Bulls in the 2016–17 Bangladesh Premier League.

In October 2018, Mahedi’s talent was recognized as he was selected to join the Comilla Victorians team, following the draft for the 2018–19 Bangladesh Premier League. His journey continued to impress when, in November 2018, while bowling for South Zone in the 2018–19 Bangladesh Cricket League, he achieved his maiden five-wicket haul in first-class cricket.

In August 2019, he was among the 35 cricketers named in a training camp ahead of Bangladesh’s 2019–20 season, showcasing his dedication to the sport. And in November 2019, he was given the opportunity to display his skills once again as he was selected to play for the Dhaka Platoon in the 2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League. His consistent performance in the domestic circuit was a stepping stone towards his international career.

International Career

In February 2018, Mahedi earned his spot in Bangladesh’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their series against Sri Lanka. His first T20I appearance for Bangladesh was on 18 February 2018, making it a memorable moment in his career.

While his international journey had its ups and downs, with a brief hiatus from the T20I squad in the 2019–20 Bangladesh Tri-Nation Series, Mahedi remained committed to improving his game. In November 2019, he was selected in Bangladesh’s squad for the 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Bangladesh. He was also selected to represent Bangladesh in the men’s cricket tournament at the 2019 South Asian Games.

Mahedi’s talent was not limited to T20Is; he proved his mettle in One Day Internationals (ODIs) as well. In January 2021, he was named in Bangladesh’s ODI squad for their series against the West Indies. His ODI debut for Bangladesh took place on 20 March 2021, against New Zealand, further solidifying his position in the national team.

In September 2021, Mahedi Hasan’s journey reached a significant milestone when he was named in Bangladesh’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
