Batting Career Of Rony Talukdar
In the fiercely competitive world of first-class cricket, Rony Talukdar has consistently proven his mettle. During the 2014-15 first-class season, he set the cricketing arena ablaze with his remarkable performances. Opening the batting for Dhaka Division, he left an indelible mark by scoring 227, 163, and 201 in three innings victories. These phenomenal innings were characterized by breathtaking opening partnerships of 197, 314, and 301 with his teammate Abdul Mazid.
His domestic cricket journey continued to soar as he joined the Dhaka Dynamites in October 2018, following the draft for the 2018–19 Bangladesh Premier League. In the 2018–19 National Cricket League, Rony emerged as the top run-scorer for Dhaka Division, amassing 426 runs in just four matches. He showcased his ability by scoring 460 runs in six matches for East Zone.
In November 2019, Rony Talukdar donned the Sylhet Striker jersey in the 2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League, further establishing his credentials as a cricketing powerhouse.
In November 2022, Rony’s cricketing journey reached another milestone as he was named in the Rangpur Riders’ squad, following the draft for the 2022–23 Bangladesh Premier League. In just his second match of the tournament, on January 6, 2023, he showcased his explosive batting prowess by smashing an astonishing 67 runs off just 31 balls. This blistering performance powered the Rangpur Riders to a convincing 34-run victory over the Comilla Victorians. Notably, he achieved his half-century off just 19 balls, marking the fastest fifty by a Bangladeshi batter in the history of the Bangladesh Premier League.
He made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut against South Africa on July 7, 2015, representing Bangladesh on the global stage.
In March 2023, after an eight-year hiatus, Rony returned to Bangladesh’s T20I squad. He was also selected in Bangladesh’s ODI and T20I squad for their series against Ireland. On March 27, 2023, in the 1st T20I against England, Rony scripted history by scoring his maiden half-century in international cricket in just 24 balls. His innings of 67 runs off 38 balls played a pivotal role in helping Bangladesh post a formidable total of 207/5, their third-highest in T20Is.
Rony Talukdar’s remarkable journey reached another milestone when he made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Ireland on May 14, 2023.
