Career Highlights
Domestic Cricket: Shamim’s journey in the world of cricket began in domestic cricket. He made his first-class debut for Chittagong Division during the 2017–18 National Cricket League on 15th September 2017. He later went on to make his Twenty20 debut for Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan in the 2018–19 Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League on 25th February 2019. His List A debut for Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan followed shortly in the 2018–19 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on 8th March 2019.
International Cricket: Shamim’s talent was soon recognized on the international stage. In December 2019, he was selected to represent Bangladesh in the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
In February 2021, he earned a spot in the Bangladesh Emerging squad for their home series against the Ireland Wolves.
T20I Debut: June 2021 was a significant month for Shamim as he was named in Bangladesh’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their series against Zimbabwe. In the second T20I match, he made his debut against Zimbabwe, showcasing his batting prowess by scoring an impressive 29 off just 13 balls.
Match-Winning Performances
In the third T20I match of the same series, Shamim played a crucial role, scoring an unbeaten 31 runs off 15 balls. This beautiful performance helped Bangladesh chase down a target of 193, securing a series win by a 2–1 margin.
T20 World Cup
In September 2021, he was selected as part of Bangladesh’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
ODI and Maiden Half-Century
In March 2023, Shamim’s journey took another step forward as he was added to Bangladesh’s One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against England. During the T20I series against Ireland in the same month, he achieved a significant milestone by scoring his maiden half-century in T20I cricket.
